Hydronic Floor Warming Systems
Many of our clients will have a requirement for an in-floor hydronic radiant floor heating system. Quantum Energy Solutions offers integrated design solutions using both forced air and floor warming in combination to provide an excellent comfort level and high energy efficiency within the residence.
Once a design is completed we can then recommend either a boiler or a geothermal based heat source solution that meets the clients requirements.
When construction begins, the entire rough-in stage, which consists of insulating the space with high quality R-11 insulation and running loops of PEX tubing, is typically completed in 1 – 3 days depending on the coverage area. Our insulation doesn’t require messy wire mesh tie-down, but instead a clean, flat surface ready for the concrete slab. Concrete is then poured over the assembly to encase the pipes.
Next in the overall construction cycle we will return to the site to install the heating equipment. As soon as a heat source is installed, we return to assemble the manifold – the stage we call the hookup. You have the option of setting multiple temperature zones with separate thermostats controlling each zone.
Unlike forced air systems *, once completed and started up the floor warming system can be used prior to occupancy for construction heating. This can reduce the construction costs associated with using portable natural gas or propane fired construction heaters. ( * It is not recommended to use any forced air system for construction heating due to the risk of accumulating dust and debris within the newly fabricated ductwork.)
