Geothermal heating and cooling system are highly reliable and efficient to operate. Built using well understood design criteria and established construction protocols, these systems are becoming increasingly common in all variety of new custom homes. With more awareness and consideration being given to the use of renewable energy sources geothermal is perfectly positioned for significant growth.
Our mandate is to design and install ground source geothermal heating and cooling systems for clients building new homes in both urban and rural locations. Geographically, our projects are typically located in Toronto, around the suburban GTA and in rural areas in nearby parts of southern Ontario. Additionally, each year we participate in projects for clients building cottages and residences in the Muskoka Lakes area.
Quantum Energy Systems is an established company with a dedicated and skilled team capable of installing all configurations of geoexchange systems – vertical systems using drilled boreholes, horizontal loops using excavated trenches, lake and pond loops that are installed under water and rock drilling that allows for the installation of geothermal ground loop systems directly into the granite rock that makes up the topography of much cottage country in th Muskoka Lakes area of Ontario.
Vertically drilled systems are used for all urban and suburban properties since the land area required is quite small. When the size of a client’s property is large enough to be described in acres, then horizontal systems are often the preferred configuration for the ground loop.
Pond and lake loops are the least common configuration of geoexchange systems installed in Ontario. Rock drilling projects in the Muskoka region are always configured as vertically installed loop and yield excellent heat transfer characteristics owing to the exceptionally high density and thermal transfer characteristics of granite. However, not all sites will qualify as viable candidates and each project and site plan must be evaluated individually.
